RandomMatch Help Center

Fixes for the problems people actually hit on RandomMatch — a black camera preview, a browser that never asks for permission, matching that finds nobody, and calls that drop after a few seconds. Start with the exact symptom.

Roughly nine out of ten "it doesn't work" reports are a browser camera permission that was denied once and remembered. Section 2 fixes that in under a minute.

1. Getting Started

Do I need an account?

No. Open randommatch.fun, tap to start, allow camera and microphone, and you are matched with a stranger. There is no sign-up form, no email verification, and no profile to build before your first call.

What do I actually need?

  • A device with a working camera and microphone.
  • A current browser. Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox, Samsung Internet, and Opera all work. In-app browsers inside social apps often block camera access entirely — if you arrived from a link inside another app, open the page in your real browser.
  • An HTTPS connection. Browsers refuse camera access on insecure pages, so always use https://randommatch.fun.
  • A stable connection — roughly 1 Mbps up and down is enough.

Is it free?

Random video matching is free. Some extras — coins and related benefits — are paid, and you will never be charged without choosing to buy. Nothing on the free path asks for a card.

Who is allowed to use it?

RandomMatch is strictly for adults aged 18 or over. If you match with someone who appears to be a minor, end the call and report it immediately — see section 5.

2. Camera & Microphone

This is the section that solves most problems. Work through it in order.

The browser never asks for permission

A browser asks once per site. If you dismissed or denied that prompt, it remembers the answer and silently refuses from then on — no second prompt, just a dead preview. Reset it:

Chrome, Edge, Opera (desktop)

Click the tune or lock icon at the left of the address bar, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload. If the site is under "Blocked", remove it there first.

Safari (iPhone and iPad)

Tap the "aA" or page-settings icon in the address bar, choose Website Settings, and set Camera and Microphone to Allow. If they are missing, check Settings → Safari → Camera at the system level.

Safari (Mac)

With the tab open, go to Safari → Settings for This Website, then set Camera and Microphone to Allow. Also confirm Safari itself is enabled under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera.

Firefox and Android

In Firefox, click the lock icon and clear the blocked permission, then reload. On Android, also check Settings → Apps → your browser → Permissions, since a system-level denial overrides anything the site can ask for.

Permission is granted but the preview is black

  • Another app holds the camera. On Windows and macOS only one app gets the camera at a time. Quit Zoom, Teams, Meet, FaceTime, OBS, or any other browser tab with an open camera, then reload.
  • A privacy shutter or driver switch. Many laptops have a physical slider over the lens or a function key that cuts the camera. Check both.
  • The wrong camera is selected. With more than one camera attached, the browser may have picked a virtual or disconnected one. Change it in the site permission panel.
  • An OS-level block. On macOS check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera; on Windows, Settings → Privacy & security → Camera. Your browser must be enabled there before any site permission matters.

They can see me but cannot hear me

Camera and microphone are separate permissions and one can be denied while the other is allowed. Re-check both in the site permission panel, confirm the correct input device is selected, and make sure your headset is not muted at the hardware level.

I hear an echo

Echo is the other person's speakers feeding back into their own microphone; it is almost never your side. Headphones on either end end it immediately.

3. Matching & Calls

How matching works

Tap to start and you enter a pool of people looking for a call right now. Pairing is random — there is no ranking, no score, and no algorithm deciding you deserve a particular person. Skip and you are put straight back into the pool.

Matching finds nobody

  • Time of day. The pool follows the clock in the regions you are matching with. Late night in a single country is a thin pool; widening the filter fixes it faster than waiting.
  • Narrow filters. Every filter you add shrinks the pool it is drawn from. Clear them and see whether matching starts immediately — if it does, the filter was the cause.
  • A blocked connection. Corporate networks, school Wi-Fi, and some VPNs block the traffic that carries video. Try mobile data; if it works there, the network was blocking it.

Calls connect then drop after a few seconds

That pattern is almost always the network, not the site. A call needs a steady connection in both directions; a link that is fine for browsing can still be too unstable to hold video. Move closer to the router, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and turn off any VPN or proxy while you test.

Can I get back to someone I just met?

No. Matching is random by design and there is no history of who you were paired with to search. If you want to keep talking to someone, agree on that during the call.

Are calls recorded?

Not by us. RandomMatch does not record, store, or replay video calls — which also means we cannot retrieve one for you later, not even as evidence for a report. What we can act on is described in section 5.

4. Coins & Payments

A purchase did not arrive

Payment providers can take a few minutes to confirm. Reload the page and check your balance again before writing in. If it is still missing after about fifteen minutes, email support with the order ID from your receipt, the amount and currency, and the payment method — with the order ID this is usually resolved in one reply.

I see a charge I do not recognise

Check whether someone else with access to your device or payment method made it, and compare the merchant name on the statement against your receipt. If it still looks wrong, write to us before filing a chargeback: a chargeback locks the account while the bank investigates, which makes everything slower for you.

Refunds

Eligibility depends on the purchase terms shown at checkout, on whether the item was consumed, and on the mandatory consumer rights that apply where you live. We assess each request against those; we do not pretend a blanket policy exists when it does not.

Cancelling a subscription

Cancel through the same channel that took the payment. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not retroactively refund a term already paid for unless the applicable law says otherwise.

5. Safety & Reporting

Reporting someone

Every call has a report button. Use it during or right after the call — reporting from inside the session attaches the context our moderators need, which an email cannot reproduce. Skipping also ends the call immediately if you just want out.

What we act on

  • Anyone who appears to be under 18, and anyone soliciting a minor.
  • Nudity or sexual content directed at someone who has not consented.
  • Harassment, hate speech, threats, and stalking.
  • Scams, phishing, and impersonation.
  • Recording someone without consent, and blackmail based on such a recording.

Full detail is in the Community Guidelines.

If you are being blackmailed

Sextortion follows a script: a stranger records the call, then demands money and threatens to send it to your contacts. Do not pay — paying marks you as someone who pays and the demands continue. Stop replying, keep the messages, report it to us with [NCII] in the subject line, and report it to your local police. This is a crime and it is common enough that police units handle it routinely.

Protecting yourself during a call

  • Give out no full name, workplace, school, or address.
  • Check what is visible behind you — mail, parcels, and street views identify you.
  • Move nothing off-platform to another app early; that is where scams start.
  • Send money to no one you met in a random call, for any reason.

6. Privacy & Your Data

What is stored

Video and audio pass between the two participants and are not recorded. What we do hold is set out in the Privacy Policy — read that rather than trusting a summary here.

Getting a copy of your data, or deleting it

Email support with [PRIVACY] in the subject and say which right you are exercising. We verify that you control the account before releasing or erasing anything, and answer within the period the applicable law requires.

My account is restricted

Restrictions follow reports, automated risk signals, or payment abuse. If you think it was a mistake, write in with the approximate time and what you were doing, and we will re-check the decision against the record from that time.

7. Still Stuck

Before you write, run these four — between them they clear most of what is left.

  • Hard-reload the page (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R).
  • Try a different browser on the same device.
  • Try the same browser on a different network — mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.
  • Disable extensions, especially ad blockers, privacy blockers, and VPN extensions.

Whichever of those changes the result tells you where the problem is. If none of them do, write to us and say which ones you tried — that alone removes a day of back and forth.

8. Quick Answers

The same answers in one place, for when you just want the short version.

Do I need an account to use RandomMatch?

No. Open randommatch.fun, tap to start, allow camera and microphone access, and you are matched with a stranger. There is no sign-up form, no email verification, and no profile to build before your first call.

Why does my browser never ask for camera permission?

Browsers ask once per site and remember the answer. If the prompt was dismissed or denied, the browser silently refuses from then on. Reset it from the lock or tune icon in the address bar, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, and reload the page.

Why is my camera preview black even though permission is granted?

Another application usually holds the camera — only one app can use it at a time on Windows and macOS. Quit Zoom, Teams, Meet, FaceTime, or other camera tabs, check for a physical privacy shutter on the laptop, confirm the right camera is selected, and make sure your browser is enabled in the operating system camera privacy settings.

Why does matching not find anyone?

The pool follows the clock in the regions you are matching with, and every filter you add shrinks it further. Clear your filters and try again. If matching still finds nobody, your network may be blocking video traffic — test on mobile data instead of Wi-Fi.

Why do calls drop a few seconds after connecting?

That pattern is almost always the network rather than the site. Video needs a steady connection in both directions, and a link that is fine for browsing can still be too unstable to hold a call. Move closer to the router, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, and disable any VPN or proxy while testing.

Does RandomMatch record video calls?

No. Video and audio pass between the two participants and are not recorded, stored, or replayed. That also means we cannot retrieve a past call for you, including as evidence for a report.

Can I reconnect with someone I matched with earlier?

No. Matching is random by design and there is no history of past pairings to search. If you want to keep talking to someone, agree on that during the call.

How do I report someone on RandomMatch?

Use the report button available in every call, during or immediately after the session, so the moderation context is attached. We act on underage users, non-consensual sexual content, harassment, threats, scams, impersonation, and non-consensual recording.

What should I do if someone recorded the call and is demanding money?

Do not pay — paying marks you as someone who pays and the demands continue. Stop replying, keep the messages, report it to support with [NCII] in the subject line, and report it to your local police. Sextortion is a crime and police units handle it routinely.

How do I request a copy of my data or have it deleted?

Email support with [PRIVACY] in the subject line and state which right you are exercising. We verify that you control the account before releasing or erasing anything, and answer within the period required by the law that applies to you.
